MPS-Gold 100, Muco-Poly-Saccharides, Acemannan and Manapol
Acemannan is a term that defines the molecular weight range of mucopolysaccharides derived from Aloe Vera gel that are over 1,000,000 Daltons. All of the mucopolysaccharides from Aloe Vera gel below this molecular weight are not considered to be Acemannan.
Carrington Labs was the single company that had the right to the name Acemannan, with patented extraction processes used to produce Acemannan as well as powdered Aloe Vera gel products that contained mucopolysaccharides that were less than 1,000,000 Daltons. The non-Acemannan mucopolysaccharide extract in a powder form was known as Manapol.
From a more technical point of view, Acemannan can be defined as a D-isomer mucopolysaccharide that is extracted from aloe leaves. Acemannan has been demonstrated to induce macrophages to secrete interferon, tumor necrosis factor-a, and interleukins. Much promise has been held out in some medical research when it comes to the active ingredients in Aloe Vera gel.
While Carrington Labs was still operational before going out of business in 1999, the name Acemannan was highly protected by this company. Health Breakthroughs International had a close working relationship with Carrington Labs over ten years ago, but went its own way with an Aloe Vera gel powder extract that is actually much higher than any product that was sold by Carrington Labs in regards to Acemannan.
MPS contains long unbranched polysaccharides consisting of a repeating disaccharide unit. The repeating unit consists of a hexose (six-carbon sugar) or a hexuronic acid, linked to a hexosamine (six-carbon sugar containing nitrogen). MPS-Gold 100 is a product name Health Breakthroughs International created in 1995 to represent the fact that it contains mucopolysaccharides in a broad range of molecular weights of this molecule.
In fact, MPS-Gold 100 contains 20% Acemannan, with a range in molecular weight from 1,000,000 Daltons up to 5,000,000 Daltons. No other Aloe Vera gel or glycountrient product contains a higher concentration of Acemannan than MPS-Gold 100. In fact, Health Breakthroughs International is one of the few producers of Aloe Vera and glyconutrient products that provide a published molecular weight assay to prove the Acemannan content.
MPS-Gold 100 is absolutely the best product available when it comes to Acemannan content and is actually better than what was available from Carrington Labs in the form of Manapol. What most people didn't realize is that Manapol contained almost zero Acemannan. Acemannan was only used for Carrington Labs pharmaceutical products (not available to the general public or doctors, but only to hospitals and to veterinarians). Whereas Manapol contains less than the complete range of molecular weights of mucopolysaccharides, MPS-Gold 100 contains the complete range of molecular weights. Having a complete product is very important because Acemannan has the upper molecular weight range mucopolysaccharides that are responsible for powerful immune system responses that are not associated with the lower molecular weight ranges.
Acemannan and the other molecular weight ranges of the mucopolysaccharides found in MPS-Gold 100 are the only essential glyconutrient sugars required by the cells. Again, as we have pointed out throughout our website, the other eight, ten, or whatever number of other plant extract sugars other companies come up with to use in various product formulas are not essential or even necessary. The more the MPS molecules are diluted in terms of the other product formulas available, the more a person will lose the only two essential glyconutrients found in Acemannan and in the total molecular weight range, which are mannose and galactose.
Mucilaginous-Poly-Saccharides (MPS) from Aloe Vera
MPS is a high molecular weight complex carbohydrate that interfaces directly with the cells of the immune system to balance and bolster their biochemical activity. The higher weight MPS is called Long Chain, High Molecular Weight Carbohydrates*. Health Breakthroughs International provides a unique form of high molecular weight MPS from Aloe Vera in a freeze dried form called MPS-Gold 100. An analysis chart can be viewed that compares three different Aloe Vera products: Our freeze dried Aloe Vera extract MPS-Gold 100; a popular competitor freeze dried Aloe Vera extract product that is still made with the antiquated alcohol precipitation process; and a popular whole leaf juice:

Conclusion: Only Health Breakthroughs MPS-Gold 100 contains the complete range of MPS molecular weights. The alcohol precipitation product is clearly missing the upper range of molecular weights considered to be Long Chain, High Molecular Weight Carbohydrates. The whole leaf Aloe juice is totally worthless as the above chart indicates.
The process of extracting MPS from Aloe Vera to make MPS-Gold 100 is proprietary but is new as compared to the past extraction process involving alcohol precipitation. The new extraction process involves different steps of cold processing in order to maintain the integrity of the MPS molecule from Aloe Vera as a freeze dried powder. The new and improved MPS-Gold 100 just as the previous product does contain any fillers, preservatives or other additives. With the new cold extraction process MPS-Gold 100 contains an even greater range of MPS molecular weights than before. The new and improved MPS-Gold 100 now contains the same complete molecular weight range of MPS as the living plant, which has never been accomplished before with an Aloe Vera supplement.
Just as with the previous MPS-Gold 100 Aloe Vera supplement that was manufactured with alcohol precipitation, there is still an emphasis on eliminating the mineral salts and enzymes from Aloe Vera as a part of the extraction process. Although liquid whole leaf Aloe Vera products are popular and very inexpensive to produce, the mineral and enzyme content of whole leaf Aloe Vera juice or freeze dried powder is very high. MPS-Gold 100 is manufactured using only the gel that is hand filleted from the leaf and then processed with cold freeze dried extraction, which eliminates all the enzymes and mineral salts in the end product. If the enzymes and mineral salts are not removed in the extraction process, this will further cause the MPS molecule to break down into the simpler components of Mannose and Galactose that makes up the structure of the MPS molecule. In addition, many people (both holistic practicing doctors and the general public) do not realize that the enzymes and mineral salts in the whole leaf are irritating to the gut, which will further aggravate immune system health issues because the gut is lined with lymphatic tissue (which is fundamentally cells that belong to the immune system) that absorbs nutrients which can then become absorbed into the general blood circulation for the production of cellular energy and to maintain a balanced metabolism.
Where as in the past we developed different grades of MPS from Aloe Vera that contained different molecular weight ranges of the MPS molecule (derived from the alcohol precipitation process), MPS-Gold 100 contains all the different molecular weight ranges because of using the new cold freeze drying process to extract MPS from the Aloe Vera gel (from organically grown Aloe Vera plants). The previously used alcohol extraction process that is still used by some manufacturers in the Aloe Vera industry seems to break down the MPS molecule into it's simpler components so that the complete range of MPS is lost (please refer to the molecular weight analysis chart in this section). Of course, as illustrated by the molecular assay chart, liquid Aloe Vera products are fundamentally worthless in terms of immune system bolstering and balancing effects. With the new cold freeze drying process to make MPS-Gold 100 all the healing properties are available without the increased cost of the combining the previous MPS-Gold 100 products.
