You may not have heard of Compass Group, but chances are you’ve eaten their food. Compass is the largest food service provider in the Americas, serving schools, restaurants, hospitals and corporations. That’s why their new policy on antibiotics is big news for your health. Compass Group has announced that it will only buy pork and chicken from companies that stop using medically important antibiotics to make healthy animals grow faster. This groundbreaking policy, developed with Environmental Defense, is the first of its kind for pork, and will be met by Smithfield Foods, the world’s largest hog producer.
