Zirconium Toxicity

What is Zirconium? It is a metal that is used to make strong ceramics called zirconia. It is a material inside many dental crowns and some joint replacements. When its in the solid "ceramic" form of these replacements and crowns, it doesn't dissolve into the body and is not a cause for concern.  Zirconium in a solid implants is not the same as soluble zirconium that might be ingested or inhaled.

Sometimes tiny amounts of soluble zirconium ions (Zr4*) can get into water or food or be inhaled.
