Reishi (Japanese) / Chaga (Russian) / Lingzhi (Chinese)

Reishi is a basidiomycete, lamellaless fungus belonging to the family of polyporaceae. In nature, it grows in densely wooded mountain of high humidity and dim lighting. It is rarely found since it flourishes mainly on the dried trunks of dead plum, guercus serrata or pasonia trees. Out of 10,000 such aged trees, perhaps 2 or 3 will have reishi growth, therefore it is very scarce indeed. The spores of reishi have such tough outer husks that germination is next to impossible and this accounts for its rarity. It was said that in the old days when one discovered reishi, it had to be kept a secret even from one's closest relative and there was big celebration upon fruitful return. The herballous history of reishi had long been documented in the oldest Chinese pharmacopoeia written in about the first or second century B.C.. In it reishi had been recorded as having the most extensive and effective healing powers. It is because of this recognition that there is diligent research for methods of reishi cultivation feasible for commercial productions. At about 1972, the cultivation of reishi became successful and as a result, what was once only attainable by the privileged is now readily make available to everyone. A number of countries are now conducting sophisticated research in reishi hoping to further the practice and science of medicine. The booklet reports the result of such research.

Effects:

  1. Prevents and Improves Diseases that are related to Blood Vessels and Circulatory System.
  2. Prevents Hyper and Hypotensions
  3. Prevents Phlebitis and Thrombosis
  4. Reishi is capable of Normalizing and Improving Allergic Reactions.
  5. Reishi can prevent Metastasis of Cancer
  6. Reishi and its Effectiveness Against other Ailments
  7. Reishi as an ADAPTOGEN

Champignon

Body-produced ammonia is a major factor in bad breath, urine odor, foot odor, tobacco body odor, meat body odor, perspiration body odor, fecal odor and gas. Ammonia?s henchmen in this offensive assault upon our health and sensibilities includes the equally harmful chemicals methyl mercaptan, hydrogen sulfide and trimethylamine.

Japanese scientists studying the chemistry of body odors have found that the vegetable gum of the champignon mushroom has the remarkable property of molecularly reducing these disgusting biochemical compounds. They are disassembled down to the simpler, less obnoxious forms from whence they came. In these simpler forms, they are unable to damage brain cells and other fragile cells of the body - and can also then be put to a useful purpose.

This is good news for those of us who enjoy healthy foods such as onions, garlic, fish, cabbage, wheat grass and beans, which readily convert to the chemical henchmen of stench.

Henceforth we should now be able to enjoy their attributes with much less of their offenses - good news indeed for our sweethearts.

At any rate, whatever your diet or aromatic condition, everyone should benefit from reduced levels of ammonia and these other toxic gases in the blood and cells of the body.

Signs of exposure to these waste gases include general cellular damage (aging) temporary and irreversible brain dysfunction and increased vulnerability to disease. Though it occurs on a relatively small scale, it is better to prevent this damage, rather than try to repair it later.

Maitake

This delicious gourmet mushroom is also an adaptogen with the ability to help balance body systems. In addition, its unique polysaccharides are under intense study for their immune boosting qualities. Maitake is regarded as having the greatest number of health supporting properties of any of the oriental healing mushrooms.

For over 3,000 years, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has enjoyed and illustrious history. Today, TCM and Western Medicine function side-by-side in Japan, as can be witnessed by the frequent use of maitake mushrooms to deal with conditions which, in the U.S., are usually treated with drugs. In Japan, maitake (pronounced my-tah-keh) mushrooms are highly prized both as food and medicine. People with serious degenerative illnesses travel long distances in search of the maitake mushroom. However, until recently, Western medicine has never viewed mushrooms as a treatment option for illness or disease. But the maitake mushroom has recently received increased clinical and research attention.

In the Orient, several types of mushrooms have been used for centuries to maintain health, preserve youth, preserve youth, and increase longevity. The healing aspects f mushrooms have been passed down through folklore and only recently (within the last 20 years) has the scientific study of mushrooms and their healing properties been initiated. The maitake mushroom (Grifola frondosa) is native to northeast Japan and has been prized in Japanese herbology for hundreds of years to strengthen the body and improve overall health. Recent research indicates that it is the most potent immuno-stimulant of all mushrooms. The compounds contained in maitake have the capacity to not only stimulate immune function, but also to inhibit tumor growth. These
compounds include polysaccharides (such as beta glucan) and high-molecular weight sugar polymers.

This delicious mushroom has only recently farm grown and is full of important vitamins and minerals. Maitake, also known as "Hen of the woods', contains Vitamin C, D2, B2, potassium and magnesium.

Effects:

  1. Reduces blood pressure
  2. Enhance the immune system
  3. Anti-tumor, anti-viral effect
  4. Reduce cholesterol
  5. Improves insulin levels

Coriolus

Coriolus is an edible mushroom, rich in proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, glycoproteins, polysaccharides, enzymes and unique metabolites. Some of these precious phytonutrients are classified as immuno-potentiators - able to help awaken dormant parts of the immune system and to super-support natural immune defense mechanisms. One coriolus polysaccharide-peptide known as PSK has gained 25% of the total cancer drug expenditure in value-conscious Japan. Coriolus has also been observed to provide anti-microbial, anti-viral and antioxidant benefits, and is rated as being entirely non-toxic.

Agaricus blazei Murril, Himematsutake

A few decades ago, researchers noticed that the occurrence rate of certain adult diseases was extremely low in a mountain region (Ideate) near Sao Paulo, Brazil. After studying the inhabitants, researchers noted that Agaricus blazei Murill (ABM), a local mushroom called "Cogmelo de Deus" or "Mushroom of God", was a regular part of their diet. As a result, they began studying the mushroom and found it has an amazing immune enhancing effect on the body Agaricus Blazei Murrill (Hime-matsutake) is a newly discovered species of mushroom that is attracting the attention of many scientists in the world now. Artificial cultivation of this Brazilian mushroom was achieved for the first time in the world by Iwaide Fungology Institute (founder: Dr. Inosuke Iwaide, a professor at Tokyo University and Mie University) after many trials and errors. This mushroom was presented by professors Hitoshi Ito, Keishiro Shimura and Sensuke Naruse of mushroom research group at Mie University medical school as a highlight at the "the 39th General Meeting of Japanese Cancer Academy" in 1980.

Effects:

  1. Anti tumor effect: ABM contains high level of effective elements such as polysaccarides, both Beta(1-3)D-glucan & Beta(1-6)D-glucan protein compounds, ribonucleic acid protein compounds, acid heteroglucan, xyloglucan, lectin, etc. When these elements are introduced into our white blood cells, it enhances the activity of macrophage, an antibody cell that destroys or delays the prolification of cancer cells.
  2. Anti cancer effect: ABM contains natural steroids, known for it's anti cancer effect. (It is different from the chemically produced steroids that enhance the body that is often said to be the cause of cancer). It is particularly effective in prevention of uterus cancer.
  3. Preventative effect: ABM contains large amounts of non digestive dietary fibers that absorb cancerous materials in our body and discharge away from our system.
  4. Blood glucose reducing effect: Effective elements mentioned above such as Beta(1-3)D-glucan & Beta(1-6)D-glucan protein compounds, ribonucleic acid protein compounds also has positive effects to reduce the blood glucose (sugar).
  5. Blood pressure, Cholesterol & Arteriosclerosis reducing effect: The above mentioned dietary fiber and unsaturated fatty acid, such as linolin, contained in ABM, have effects to reduce blood pressure, cholesterol and arteriosclerosis.
  6. Vitamin D2 effect: ABM contains vitamin B1 and B2 but also contains large amounts of ergosterol, which would be converted to vitamin D2 when it is dried in the sun or heated in a mechanical drying process. Vitamin D2 has positive effects to lessen the danger of osteoclasis.

Agaricus Blazei Murrill, the Mushroom of God, was subjected to pharmacological tests that revealed components that enhance the immune system. Citizens of Piedade didn't have to be told about this. They'd been using agaricus for years to avoid infection, diabetes, high cholesterol, chronic hepatitis, and arteriosclerosis (flexibility loss in the arteries).

First human testing studies' results promise that this modest mushroom may have a very bright future - especially for cancer patients. Agaricus stimulates the immune system by triggering the production of:

  • T-cells, which directly attack cells that have been taken over by viruses or cancers
  • Interleukin, which bolsters the immune system by stimulating growth and activity of white blood cells
  • Tumor necrosis factor (TNF), which activates white blood cells and fights tumors
  • Macrophages, which protect the body from infection by consuming foreign material

In people treated with agaricus, chemotherapy-associated side effects such as appetite loss, hair loss, emotional instability, and general weakness were all improved compared to those who didn't receive the supplement.
