Cedarwood, Cedrus atlantica

Botanical Name Cedrus atlantica
Essence Calming and Balancing
Function Cedarwood is used to calm during periods of nervousness and fear to provide stability to the emotions. It helps alleviate anger and aggression by grounding the emotions. It is an effective remedy for bronchial infections, a strong antiseptic that may be used for the treatment of kidney infections. The astringent properties assist with oily hair and dandruff.
Usage Diffuse - a few drops to assist breathing and clear nasal passages.
Massage - 10-15 drops /60 ml of carrier oil provides an effective chest massage for coughs.
Bath - 5-6 drops to cleanse and calm the emotions.
Hair care - add a few drops to unscented products.
Aromatherapy Antiseptic, digestive, astringent, calming, sedative, expectorant, harmonizing, encourages mediation.
Caution Cedarwood has abortive properties and should not be used by pregnant women. Other companies use Juniperus virginiana or Juniperus mexicana.
