Strata Flora (Pt. 3)

Drinking chlorinated water causes a lot of problems for the bacteria in our intestines. Our intestinal flora is just as susceptible to chlorine as the critters we are trying to kill before we drink the water. We all know chlorine kills bacteria; this is why your local swimming pool contains chlorinated water – to stop bacterial growth.

It doesn’t help that the “good” bacteria in our intestines are usually more fragile than the “bad” bacteria. This means that the good bacteria are usually the first to die. If you have ever taken antibiotics you should be aware that their purpose is to do the same thing. They are designed specifically for the purpose of killing off bacterial growth. Doctors will often recommend you eat yogurt to combat this, but it is seldom sufficient to repair the damage done.
