Magnesium and Calcium
I wonder if you are aware how magnesium interacts with the calcium in your body? How many times have you heard mothers tell their kids to “drink your milk so you can grow healthy bones”? It is widely thought that the calcium in the milk is what makes this happen. But just because bones are mostly made of calcium does not mean that you need to ingest calcium to “build strong bones”. Consider a 2,000 lbs grown bull. He has been eating mostly grass … not drinking milk.
Most people aren’t aware of or don’t understand the relationship between calcium and magnesium. Calcium is a lot like the bricks in a wall, while magnesium acts as the mortar that holds the calcium in place. The actual process is a lot more complicated, but the analogy should explain why you need to have both.
Most powdered calcium and magnesium supplements are proportioned correctly for a healthy person without imbalance. If you are deficient in magnesium this probably won’t help you since your cellular fluid calcium level will be too high and your magnesium level too low. Taking something in the proper proportions for a healthy body will not solve a deficiency problem.
The transdermal magnesium solution gets even around the fact that ingested magnesium causes loose bowels. That may be welcome if you are constipated, but for the most part it would be just inconvenient.
