Exercise
Regular exercise, as everyone I hope knows, is an extremely important aspect of being healthy. The human body was designed to work under load, to be working against gravity. Looking back to our history we used to expend quite a bit of energy just getting the food we need. The amount of physical ability required of our bodies in a typical sedentary job is laughable.
Walking is a minimum we must do, but we should also be able to carry things and climb hills and run a bit. I don’t want anyone to get discouraged, as so much of staying healthy is a mental game, like most things in life. The exercise doesn’t have to be strenuous or difficult. I’m not talking about straining with weights, but set a reasonable goal of being able to put out 30 minutes of serious exercise a day. By serious exercise I mean you should be breaking a sweat. As I touched on in the previous blog post, many toxins leave through the skin with our sweat. This purifies our body and keeps things moving along nicely. Think about it, the more fluids moving around in your body, the more vital you are and the less likely that anything will get “stale”, so the speak.
Another purpose of exercise is keeping the body pliable. I encourage everyone to stretch, whether in the morning or evening, though I personally find it a really great way to start the day.
It is also important to take the time to relax and shut off the mind every once in a while. The more often, the better. We often are running at top speed everyday with so many things going on in our lives that we barely have time to stop and smell the roses. Relaxation is an important aspect a healthy lifestyle. It is important to get enough sleep and not always trying to “win the race”. Meditation as a daily practice is one of the best ways of dealing with stress. And when you lower your stress level, you will live longer.
